PersaCon was Alabama's first, and premiere, Japanese animation and geek culture event. The initial planning began in 2002 while Lauren was only 14. The first year took place in May of 2003 at the Radisson Inn on Madison Blvd, Madison, AL.

The original name was ChibiCon. In Japanese "chibi" means small or tiny. However, in the first year they had 150 attendees, and they broke that "chibi" meantality. Lauren's mother's favorite Japanese animated series at the time was Chobits. In Chobits there are computer that look like people called PersoComs. With a clever change of letters; they had their new name "PersaCon".

PersaCon then spent its next 3 years across the street from the Raddisson Inn at the Ramada Inn. In the 3rd year they outgrew the event so much they fears being shut down by the fire marshall. They spent their 5 year anniversary at the Bevill Center located on University of Alabama in Huntsville's campus. The venue was nice but still they were too big. They then spent their 6th year at the Von Braun Civic Center in downtown Huntsville, AL. The venue itself was big enough, but to Lauren, and the rest of the staff, it just didn't feel right. In their 7th year they took a chance on a hotel in Decatur, AL. It was a nice fit so they decided to stay there for the 8th year as well. However, after the 8th year, it was feeling almost... wrong... that they were not in Huntsville. They decided to move back and will be hosting their 9th, and final, year at the Radisson Inn on South Parkway, Huntsville, AL.

Through the years they kept a steady increase of attendees. The aim was to always offer a wide variety of entertainment, and to keep a casual environment. PersaCon has tried to always stick by their original mission statement, "Provide a convention that is both casual and exciting". They have offered wonderful events like "Project Cosplay" (a twist on the hit show "Project Runway"), "Lemon x Lime Variety Time" (their own comedy variety show), "Turnabout Theater" (a live show based on the video game "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney"), and more. Many of the shows and events were also produced featuring help and actors from Concept Galaxy. They even have featured concerts from acts like The Man Power, The Slants, Gordon Roque, Daikaiju, Lisa Furukawa, and Electric Attitude.

The convention always attempted to offer a wide variety of options within its layout. There was a Dealers' Room (full of vendors of various anime and geek goods), a Panel Room (where classes and special guests give lessons and discussions), a Gaming Room (full of classic and new games, and hosting tournaments), and a Main Room where all the big events took place.

PersaCon has also played host to guests like Stephanie Chateau, Steve Bennet, Jan Frazier, Michael Coleman, Walter Jones, Michael McConnohie, Melodee M. Spevack, Vic Mignogna, Patrick Seitz, Lisle Wilkerson, Mark Musashi, Leah Clark, and more!

It is impossible to contain the full story and impact of PersaCon to mere words. The convention has supported and inspired many people from all ages. Every year they are sent letters of how they gave someone a place to feel comfortable with their fandom, how they made someone feel special, and even in some cases, how they've saved a life. The impact of the con is something that Lauren has said will stay with her forever. She's even professed to attendees and staff how there's no way to properly express how much they all mean to her. It is truly a family, and will be greatly missed.
